The design process can be confusing to some clients, so at Brown Advertising, we have broken our process down into five steps that help keep your projects organized, objectives identified and schedules met. The specific details can vary depending on the client’s particular needs, but the approach is the same.
During our initial consultation (in person, over the phone, email, video chat), we begin by doing what we do very well—listening.
We discuss your needs and help guide you through possible solutions. Often, we’re approached with a specific project in mind, which is fine. But we take the time to find out what you are trying to accomplish first and make sure that it will help meet your goals in an efficient manner. If there is a better approach, we will offer our recommendations and let you decide.
During this stage, we find out more about you, your company, your target audience, your design and marketing efforts to date, and discuss any personal likes or dislikes and deadline requirements.
Arguably, this is the most important stage because it lays the foundation for a both successful design project and a long-term relationship.
After we have listened to your needs and gathered enough information to define the project, we outline our plan and estimate in a proposal. We can define a schedule based on our normal turnaround, or based on your scheduling needs if you are working against a shorter deadline.
An initiation fee and signed proposal are collected to begin the project.
We begin by researching your industry and your competition to identify current trends and assess what others are doing. This gives us the perspective to begin brainstorming your design. During our design process, we explore different approaches to layout, color palettes and imagery—and constantly refine it to ensure that it effectively accomplishes your goals as defined during the initial consultation and outlined in the proposal. You can be assured that we value quality design, effective presentation and attention to detail in everything we do. Our goal is to provide a solution that is both creative and effective.
We present a proof to you for review and request feedback.
Any changes or additions are made and revised proofs are sent. Generally, we allow for up to three rounds of revisions in our estimate before incurring additional costs.
Once proofs are approved, we wrap up any technical steps necessary on our end, deliver the final product(s) and collect the remainder of the balance.
