First off, I’d like to welcome you to the Brown Advertising blog!

This blog is part of a series of changes that have been a natural evolution of my graphic design and web design business. In this blog, I will write about topics that interest small business owners—including marketing tips, branding advice, social media trends, internet marketing strategies and design industry news. Take a moment to sign up for the email newsletter and the RSS feed at the top right to keep up-to-date on tips, resources and tools that you can use to help grow your business.

With the new year comes some exciting and significant changes in my business.

As of January 1, 2009, Brown Advertising, LLC is now my full-time business. For current and past clients, you know prior to this, Brown Advertising was my freelance design business and I worked full-time for Surry Publishing Group/The Messenger in Mount Airy, NC. I am very grateful for my experiences there and continue to collaborate on some projects with them. You can read more about the details of that transition here.

Few people in life get to make a living doing what they love. I am fortunate to be in that minority. I thrive on the creativity, the visual problem-solving, the tools of the trade, and helping other business owners grow their business and position themselves in the marketplace. I love to see other business owners with grand visions—charting their own course and not being afraid to take bold actions. If I can play a small role in that vision, so much the better.

Brown Advertising is a small design studio on purpose. I can operate more efficiently, adjust to market conditions and trends more quickly and leverage my time and scale my business by managing a small team of freelance designers, web developers and virtual assistants when needed. This allows me to offer a good value and exceptional service to my clients. I’m not out to compete on price—you’ll always be able to find someone to do a job for less. In fact, I can recommend some to you if you’re only price shopping.

What I have found over the last 12 years is that business owners are looking for value, experience and results. They want someone they can trust to handle their project, take the lead and produce creative solutions that effectively communicate their message and position their product or service.

That’s Brown Advertising.
